srsly procrastinating

When it's grind time, I'm going to be flushin' like mad. My face gets all warm and tingly in a bad way when I'm stressed. It's sad how easy it is to write ~1000 words about slash and heteronormativity in a comment thread, and yet have the hardest time writing an essay for class.

Sadly, there are no television shows about grammarians. The closest would be Guster on Psych, who questioned the illogical use of “could care less.” If there’s a phrased positively, then you certainly care somewhat. Anyway, Big Bang Theory is a show I love following weekly. Apologies for the artefacts, I was too lazy to open GIMP. Here is a clip demonstrating Sheldon’s teaching skills.

In other news, I started writing, but I changed my mind on the topic again. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahaha...ha. :| Why do I always change my mind? Also, it's so much easier writing fandom essays than film or literature papers. Guess it's because I don't feel like I'm being judged? I should just take my fandom approach and see how much I can get done. Siiighh.

ETA: I've been watching a lottttt of Arrested Development. I'll probably be done by the end of the day at this rate. Distractions distractions.

shoobie doobie

...I swear, I'll get something done by Wednesday. That is my personal deadline! Other than that, I'll try to start reviewing for my other final(s), too.

In other news, this is my most favorite thread ever.

ETA: Arrested Development, the Complete Series for under $30. I've never seen this series, but the price makes it really tempting to purchase. Note to self - preview first. You don't have the cash to buy series you've never watched/are not guaranteed to like. Heck, it's available legally on Hulu!

Nov. 29th, 2009

been a while since i've seen my besties

Went to Dave & Buster's for the first time today! It's pretty much a Chuck-E-Cheese for the 21 and older crowd. Or a Golf Land where you replace golf with classier (not by much) food and drinks. If those are the vaguest descriptions ever, just think of an arcade with food and alcoholic beverages. I haven't had any alcohol since my 21st birthday in June, so "tonight" was the first time in forever. Wait, I think I had some beer with my cousins during a get-together. I'm not really into that sort of thing, so I won't bother unless I'm going with close friends who happen to enjoy drinks (coughMELcough). Actually, I typically don't even think to order any, even in establishments that serve them. Milk shakes are yum. (Amusingly enough, the bouncer (?) eyed my friend for a bit, as if thinking she had a fake ID, ahahaha.)

The last time I had coolers was sometime before I was 21. I don't remember if I was 19 or 20, not that it makes much of a difference. I seemed pretty okay when I had them, but tonight I learned that I am not immune to the Asian glow. After drinking about 1/2 or 3/4 of my mango cooler, I started feeling flushed. Probably underestimated the alcohol content. I also have a tendency to down my drinks relatively quickly (not in one gulp or anything), too.

Other than that, I had Mac and Cheese with bacon and breadcrumbs. Sob, what is with me and my cholesterol-inducing meals. I should eat salad more often. It's not like I dislike vegetables or anything! The place I go to tends to have such huge salads that I can't finish them. When I bring them home, they just look soggy and gross. :'( Guess I'll aim for half-sandwich and half-salad combos next time. Oh right, so today was one of the rare occasions when I wasn't insanely full, so I managed to order dessert (key lime pie, by the way). Incidentally, the server even asked me if I was okay. According to my friends, my eyes were bloodshot. Thanks for the proof, compact mirror. :X

I spent nearly 30 dollars. What the heck. It was just a drink, meal, and a slice of pie. Holy crap, are you guys trying to encourage me to eat more burgers? I love burgers, cheap as they tend to be, but I gotta stop occasionally. Damn enablers. Fries, I can't quit you either. Potatoes and carbs...

IN OTHER NEWS, I WAS NOT PRODUCTIVE AT ALL THIS BREAK. ...unless you count meeting my story quota for one class. Damn, I was planning on finishing a paper. Hopefully I'll get that done by either the end of the week or midweek so my instructor can grade it in time for internship applications.

You know that one section in the newest opening where Luffy runs toward his crew and we get like split-section shots of them? Aside from the last, all of these icons come from that part. :X

Lawls. Why did I get thumbs down for telling someone who sings the song? It's not like I'm blasphemously complimenting the video maker's work. Oh, you lovely youtubers.

Nov. 23rd, 2009

it only has to be one page...

...so why am I procrastinating on such a simple assignment? I guess I'm just unused to having to do things besides papers. :'(

This isn't really worth mentioning, but it's not like anyone on Twitter would care, unless V*z wants their interns to have an eye for fictional fashion. :V I just wanted to point out that I'm really digging Zoro's shirt here. It confirms that he wears clothes from Pappug's clothing line Criminal. Camie's shirt has the same design, down to the scar-stitch on the right. I was thinking the shirt was tailored for him until I remembered to check her shirt; pretty suitable brand for him, huh? It's nice seeing him wear different pants and shoes for once, too. He is way more metro than I am, wearing colored pants like that.

I like Usopp's clothes the best in this filler arc, though. Well, more like his accessories? Nice boots and hat. I'm really fond of Luffy's hooded...shirt thing, too. It's so bright, and I love hoods. Robin's look extremely comfortable and leisurely. Nami's clothes are kind of... ...yeah, not to my taste. Everyone else doesn't really register on my radar. Sanji just reminds me that wearing black pants can make just about anything look all right. 8D

P.S. Danbo is so adorable!

I wonder if I should read more stories so I can properly log them in and make it easier for the facilitator.

Heck yeah, another A-! Sob, I love this class. More later.

According to the movie filler, Zoro's hometown (?) is called Frost Moon Village. The more you know!

BFR Stories
- "Soft Landings" (Yes)
Comments: Soft yes because there are a lot of interesting lines in the story. I
feel that it's a little busy for my taste and would've preferred it to
focus on one thing, but that's more about taste than anything else. It
was both easy yet hard to get through. Sorry for the vagueness, haha. I
just really want to give it a chance.

Might update this later!

Heading to bed!

Just posting this so I don't forget. I'll probably update this later on. [info]girlgamer and I are good at distracting each other.

BFR Stories
- Deconstruction (No)
Comments: The formatting of this story reminds me of the other one involving...thread? Might just be the subheadings. I'm kind of reminded of theme challenges, as if the author was given words to create a short drabble and connect all of them together. There's something I like about this, but it's not enough for me to encourage publication.
- Doctor's Things (No)
Comments: I thought it was really easy to read and somewhat entertaining. The ending is pretty lackluster though. The author has this interesting setup but doesn't do anything with it. Come on, serial killer surgeon! I feel kind of let down that it was introduced and then left alone.

Chocolate War
-Completed 12 chapters for Monday

Sorry, Wrong Number
-...I'll start later today. :|b If anyone wants to help me out with ideas, I'd appreciate it! It's a 12-page paper, so brainstorming and discussion is a definite plus.

Stayin' classy 24/7

Will there ever be a day when I look at Zoro without picturing him with breasts? Probably not. (It's safe for work, unless pictures of sleeping anime characters get people fired.) So manly and yet all I can think about is boobification. Does this mean he's good at selecting shirts or is he horrible at it? Is the crew forcibly putting him in these shirts? Possibly, since Oda says Zoro, along with Chopper and Luffy, has no fashion sense. (Though interestingly enough, he and Califa apparently wear the same brand of clothing. I think the line is called Criminal?)

What am I even talking about. Pfft. I'll be analytical another day!

ETA: Man, I'm really kind to Zoro on his birthday. Whatever, I don't think he'd mind having boobs. :|b Also, I almost sort of got lost today. Yay for celebrating!

ITP: Spoilerbound (no spoilers, just a play on Deathbound HUR HUR)

LADDER, GET YOURSELF AWAY FROM THE P3 COMMUNITY. DON'T SPOIL THE ENDING FOR YOURSELFFFF. DAMN YOU, ATLUS. ANNOUNCE ITS LOCALIZATION ALREADY.

[info]kisslicknipsuck's challenge and stuff

I don't really write much fic these days, but I was practically dared/challenged by [info]kisslicknipsuck. While I'm normally not up to that sort of thing--I'm a chicken when it comes to Truth or Dare already--I figured I'd do this before needing to finishing up my other papers. Good thing this didn't involve any requirements outside of including the naked villager in chapter nine of Naruto. Yes, he's there. I never noticed. Apparently I'm good at ignoring naked people? Anyway, I cut this to be considerate to everyone else. \o/ It's not meant to be great and I started losing steam half-way through, so don't be expectin' high quality stuff.

Struggling to Dump Procrastination - A !Love Story [Day 1]

There's a possibility that I'll be doing this every day from now on. It'll make me feel more productive if I set a quota for myself. N/A looks really ugly, so I'll be more than happy to get rid of it! Met today's story quota. SO, I might even post some about some of the material (excerpts from my paper or thoughts) for my benefit. It's strange how writing about these things in my blog feels more rewarding than writing them in something like Microsoft Word. I enjoy finishing up journal entries. Be prepared for some boring entries about school!

Sparing you the details )

Nothing particularly amazing has happened today. I feel a little better about my social life this week, though. Had dinner with people on Thursday night at Chipotle. Their Chicken Burrito is really good! Unfortunately, I despise having to pick ingredients/toppings. I don't like holding up lines; this is why I stopped going to Subway. It's great for people who are really picky. I might go again just because you get a lot of bang for your buck. I wouldn't have expected...3/4 of a burrito to fill me up like that; eating half of it would've been good enough. I love places that give me huge portions. Another meal for another day.

As for today, I went to lunch with a friend again. We're thinking about making it a weekly thing; I'll be getting back to San Jose a little later, but it's not a big deal. My mom can always pick me up. It's nice to air out grievances about our futures and degrees, so I'm enjoying these Friday lunches. Might go to Yogurt Land next time. I've never gone to the one in Berkeley before.

safhsdlfhsnchicf i give up

Sheesh, this isn't coming together at all. I should've talked to her during office hours. I have so many ideas floating around in my head, and it's really overwhelming. I have so much to say and can't narrow it down to what I need to say. FOR ONCE, I am actually distracted by the book's shinyness. It's not just an issue about being distracted by the Internet.

This book is...well, its themes are really varied and it's amazing how much I got out of it. You'd think this comes naturally, but that usually isn't the case with me when it comes to class-assigned reading. ...Also, it's rare for me to finish a book two class meetings ahead, so I forgot what happened and need to reread it. I want to air out all my thoughts during class discussion so I can focus on analyzing what I need to analyze. A lot of the time I read stuff and my reaction is, "Bguh?"

SIGH, I wanted to get rid of all my papers for the week, but I know now that I am certain I need an extension, as late in the game as it is to request one. I don't want to turn in crap for this class because I already set a standard for myself with the first paper. I'd be really disappointed with myself otherwise. FUCK YOU, SCHOOL. :'( I still have another paper I'm planning on turning in before the end of November, too. ...I've been thinking about that one a lot, though.

As for the guessing game, I'll probably close it sometime tomorrow, either 12 AM GMT -8 (Pacific Time) or later.

Edit: Got my extension! Due on Tuesday at the latest.

so hungry

/eats you

In more sane news, I wonder how harshly someone can grade a ~*creative*~ paper. Honestly, I didn't really have anything new to say about Samuel or Saul. Eh, I'll try to catch up with the reading after i finish the paper due tomorrow. I hate back-to-back due dates. Good thing this class is P/NP. AS LONG AS I PASS, BABY.

...man, I'm hungry.

WHY DON'T I HAVE A HUNGRY ICON; SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE TO GET ONE
